SparkDrive runs e-scooter fleets with integrated LED advertising surfaces, so a fleet earns from rides and from advertising.

The starting point

A scooter fleet earns only while it is ridden. SparkDrive's idea was to make every scooter an advertising surface as well, with an LED panel on the stem that plays an advertiser's campaign, so the fleet earns from rides and from ads.

What we built

The mobile and backend systems behind both sides of the business: fleet management with real-time tracking of the scooters, the app riders use, and an advertising inventory on the LED surfaces, connected to campaign management and its analytics. Monetisation runs from rides and from advertising.

How we worked

We started with the business, not the code: market validation, unit economics, investor readiness and the product roadmap. Fleet management and tracking came next, then the advertising inventory, then the mobile and backend systems that bring rides and advertising together.

The technical choices

Fleet management and real-time tracking are the base layer. The LED surfaces are managed as advertising inventory and connected to campaign management, so the advertising runs on the same systems as the fleet.

How it was built

SparkDrive, phase by phase.

What each stage of the project delivered, in the order we built it.

  1. Phase 1

    Business planning

Market validation, unit economics, investor readiness and the product roadmap.

  2. Phase 2

    Fleet management and tracking

Fleet management, with real-time tracking of the scooters.

  3. Phase 3

    Advertising inventory

The LED advertising surfaces as inventory, connected to campaign management.

  4. Phase 4

    Mobile and backend

The mobile and backend systems, and monetisation from rides and advertising.

What we built

The product, feature by feature.

Fleet

  • Fleet management

The scooters and their operations in one system.

  • Real-time tracking

    Where each scooter is, live.

Advertising

  • Advertising inventory

LED surfaces on the scooters, connected to campaign management.

  • Rides and ads

Monetisation from rides and from advertising.

Business

  • Mobile and backend systems

The apps and the services behind them.

  • Business planning

Market validation, unit economics, investor readiness and roadmap.

Inside the product

Industries

The problem looks different in every industry.

Pick yours. This is what we hear in the first meeting, and what we build to fix it.

Healthcare and clinics

The problem

The front desk spends the morning on reminder calls and rebookings. Patient records sit in one system, invoices in another, and nobody sees which patients have quietly stopped coming back.

What we build

A patient app and clinic dashboard built on foundations that hold at the second clinic and the tenth. We built Zovi this way.

Professional services

The problem

Senior people spend their evenings on time sheets, engagement letters and status reports. Knowledge lives in inboxes, so every new case starts from a blank page.

What we build

A client portal or a productised service, built to scale past the first ten customers.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

The firm's memory, finally searchable.

Manufacturing

The problem

Orders arrive as PDFs and emails and get typed into SAP by hand. Planning runs on a spreadsheet that one person understands.

What we build

Industrial software for a new product line, built to talk to your customers' SAP from the first release.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

Orders that reach SAP without a keyboard.

Retail and e-commerce

The problem

Customer service answers the same twenty questions all day. Returns are processed by hand, and by Friday the shop, the stock and the books disagree.

What we build

A commerce product or marketplace built for the traffic your launch plan promises.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

Shop, stock and books that agree on Friday.

Logistics and travel

The problem

Bookings, changes and documents arrive by email at all hours. The team types them into three systems, and customers call to ask where things stand.

What we build

A booking or travel product built on the integrations that make it work. We built Valhalla Trip this way.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

The customer knows before they ask.

Finance and insurance

The problem

Applications and claims arrive as documents and get checked by hand against rules everyone knows by heart. Every audit means a week of collecting evidence.

What we build

A fintech or insurtech product built with the audit trail and access control your regulator will ask about.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

An audit trail written while the work happens.

Software and SaaS

The problem

The roadmap is full, support tickets keep pulling engineers off it, and the internal tools are scripts nobody owns.

What we build

A first version with the architecture, pipelines and documentation to grow on, so month nine isn't a rewrite.

Usually connects to

Talk about your industry

Engineers back on the roadmap.
